  (1) Does Maharaji speak to the media?
Maharaji speaks to the media from time to time. He is happy to grant interviews to journalists with a sincere interest in his message. Because he travels approximately 11 months each year, and because his schedule is very busy, interviews usually need to be arranged at least two months in advance. Arrangements may be made for media interviews directly with Maharaji, subject to his limited availability.
  (2) Is the media invited to the 2005 summer’s events?
Events are generally open to the public but are not media events. Occasional exceptions are made for journalists who request credentials in advance. Press access is arranged through the Public Relations office at Elan Vital by phoning 1-818-889-1193 ext. 3.

  (6) Manipulation of the media by detractors with a negative perspective
Members of a “hate group” have actively sought, and in some cases found, gullible or sloppy reporters who have re-published false and defamatory statements without undertaking a direct investigation of facts or exercising a fair measure of due diligence or professional journalistic caution. The hate group consistently feeds misinformation to newspapers and often sends multiple letters to editors using fictitious names.

In 2002, Australian journalist John Macgregor was held in contempt by the Australian court for making false statements in connection with a scheme involving the hate groups’ efforts to steal computer data and redistribute it illegally.

In 2003, detractors contacted a campus newspaper and duped a student reporter into publishing a false and misleading story, quoting a non-existent person.
